The Human Resource Development (HRD) Project has been providing specialized lectures and practical training programs on the food value chain, food analysis, and food safety management for the younger generation in ASEAN Member States. These programs have been supported by experts from the Japanese private sector and Japanese government/agencies, who have contributed to enhancing participants’ knowledge, skills, and expertise.
Impact Assessment: Measuring 10 Years of Program Success
In 2024, the HRD Project entered its 10th year of implementation. As part of this decade-long milestone, an impact assessment was conducted to evaluate how former participants perceive the program and how their participation has influenced their career development, both currently and in the future. The results from online questionnaires indicate that the majority of former participants gave high ratings to the program and acknowledged its significant impact on their career progression. Additionally, in-depth interviews provided insights into how participants have applied the knowledge and skills acquired from the program to advance their careers. In response to these positive results, the HRD Project representatives expressed their appreciation to the partner universities and institutions, as well as the Japanese experts, for their contributions to the successful implementation of this program over the past decade. “We are delighted that the assessment results were quite positive and would like to extend our gratitude to our partner universities/institutions and Japanese experts for their invaluable contributions to the successful implementation of these programs,” stated a representative of the HRD Project. The first year of Phase 4 began in 2024. Based on the findings of this assessment, the implementation of more practical and impactful programs is planned to support young individuals who will contribute to the development of sustainable agriculture and the food industry in the ASEAN region. As a form of appreciation, The HRD Project representatives also extended their sincere gratitude to focal points at partner universities and institutions for their exceptional cooperation, as well as to IDACA for successfully conducting the impact assessment despite various challenges.
