Food Analysis Course in Partnership with National University of Laos 2024

The 1st Food Analysis Training Course in Partnership with the National University of Laos (NUL) under the HRD Project – Phase 3 was successfully organized from 7 to 11 November 2022. The activity was implemented both online and on-site, hosted by the Faculty of Agriculture, NUL. The Program was joined by 35 participants which consisted of 28 students and staff from the NUL, 6 participants from the government sector, and 1 participant from the private sector in Laos. 13 lecturers with noted expertise in food analysis from the Japanese and local public and private sectors were invited and shared their practical knowledge based on their wide experiences in the field of food analysis. 3. The curriculum was arranged based on consultation between NUL, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) Japan, and the HRD Project. The curriculum consisted of three parts; (1) Japanese Agriculture System (JAS) for functional component analysis and functional foods (Day 1, 2-3 morning), (2) ISO/IEC17025 (Day 2-3 afternoon), and (3) hands-on training with High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) (Day 4-5). It was composed of cutting-edge knowledge on food analysis-related topics which cover Japanese Agricultural Standards (JAS), Mushroom as a Functional Food (Ornithine), JAS Testing Methods, Standardization in Food Industries, Development of Functional Foods and the Use of Functional Food Labeling System in Japan, ISO/IEC17025, and hands-on training with HPLC
