Project for Human Resource Development in Agriculture and Food-related Areas through Partnership with Universities in ASEAN Region (HRD Project)
The Program is aimed at developing human resources in agriculture and food-related areas, with a primary focus on Food Value Chain development through sharing knowledge, experience, and practical know-how with the young generation in AMSs.
The Program is an intensive course on basic understanding of the Japanese Agricultural Standard (JAS) and its testing method, functional food, and related labeling systems as well as method validation.
The program is aimed at developing human resources for enhancing food safety management through practical training with international food safety management standard to food-related stakeholder in ASEAN Region
As part of Japan’s ASEAN Cooperation and a way forward for human resources development on building an advanced value chain, the Project for Human Resources Development in Food-related areas through Partnership with Universities in the ASEAN Region (HRD Project) was established on 1st September 2014. This initiative primarily targets the young generation, particularly university students as well as various stakeholders including government officials, experts from agriculture and food-related companies, agricultural cooperatives, agricultural community enterprises, farmer organizations, and testing laboratories that need new knowledge, practical know-how, and skills.
The HRD Project has Progressed through multiple phases. Its initial phase concluded on 31 December 2017, followed by the second phase spanning from 1st January 2018 to 31 December 2020. Subsequently, the third phase commenced on 1st January 2021 and was initially to conclude on 31 December 2023. However, it has been extended by an additional year until 31 December 2024, aligning with the ongoing Fourth Phase, which spans from 1st January 2024 to 31 December 2026.
